WOMEN PEACE & JUSTICE

The 31st Anniversary Conference of Florida National Organization for Women was held from January 7 to 9, 2005, at the historic beau arts Gulfstream Hotel in downtown Lake Worth FL. The theme is Women, Peace and Justice.

Kim Gandy, national president of the National Organization for Women was the keynote speaker for Saturday. With more than 130 participants, the conference was a great success.

Friday's "Evening on the Avenue" was Marijah,a reggae singer from Palm Beach County. She has a band and she writes her own material. Marijah's website is www.marijahmusic.com

The North Palm Beach County Chapter was the host for this statewide event. Shirley Herman, Joan Waitkivitz, Kim Guzman, Nandine Burns, Anna Fonfa, Lindsay Babich, Tom Shepherd, Cheryll Plotkin and M.A. Knobe are appreciated for all of their efforts to make this a memorable experience for everyone.

A special thanks to the Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce for hosting the Saturday breakfast.

Our own Shirley Herman was also elected to the FL state Treasurer's position.
